250+ Projects for Swedish Homeowners

The Project

As part of a long-term partnership with BYGGMAX, a well-known chain of DIY stores in Sweden, which began in 2015, NEXT Design delivered an extraordinary undertaking: more than 250 DIY projects for the chain’s customers to build on their own. The projects cover the full range of building and renovation work on a typical Swedish house, garden and surroundings, together with many useful pieces of garden furniture and equipment. The work ran intensively and without interruption for over three years.

The Collaboration

Every project was developed together with Magnus Sjöberg, an excellent Swedish designer and a DIY star known to Swedish YouTube audiences. Magnus designed each project, described its individual steps and defined how it should be presented – together with a list of the products from the BYGGMAX range needed to build it.

Step-by-Step 3D Instructions

Our Role

Based on Magnus’s descriptions, we produced every step of each DIY guide in 3D, showing each stage of construction as a visual 3D instruction. Along the way we built more than one Swedish house – in line with good building practice, common sense and the efficient execution Swedes are famous for, and not only thanks to IKEA. BYGGMAX published all the instructions in the project catalogue on its website, and some of the animations were used to produce DIY clips for its YouTube channel.
